However, this new update is currently rolling out to Chinese variant of the Honor 7X with model number AL10. We have checked the update on our Honor 7X, but there are no signs of the update. Technology blog The Android Soul reported this news, but at the moment, there’s no official changelog available though.
Talking about the features, the OTA update adds Face Unlock mode which can be found under Settings > Security and privacy > Face Unlock. The Face Unlock mode allows a user to unlock the smartphone with their Face, much like the feature we saw on the OnePlus and Oppo smartphones. Recently, Honor rolled out the Face Unlock feature to its flagship smartphone, the Honor View 10 or Honor V10 in the Chinese market, and it’s no surprise to see Honor rolling out the update to the 7X as well.
Alongside the Face Unlock mode, it is also reported that the OTA update adds smart lockscreen notifications feature, which allows users to display lockscreen notifications with their face. After setting up this feature, a user can unlock the lockscreen notifications with their face. This feature, again made its way from the Honor View 10. Users can activate this feature by heading over to: Settings > Security and privacy > Face Unlock > Smart lock screen notifications.
Next up, we have the new AR lens feature made its way to the Honor 7X. This feature can be found under the default Camera application and can be accessed by heading over to Camera > Modes > AR lens. This feature allows users to change the background in the selfies.
Lastly, the report adds the Honor 7X has tweaked Weather application with better location tracking and city names. It also takes the Honor 7X to January 2018 security patches from December 2017 security patch fixes. There’s no info on when Honor is planning to roll out the same update to global variants of the Honor 7X.
