Xiaomi is in no mood to stop the Redmi 5A hype train. The company on Wednesday announced a new Rose Gold colour variant for the entry-level smartphone that is set to be available today starting 12pm on Flipkart and Mi.com. The Redmi 5A was launched in India two colour colour options – Gold and Grey. The Rose Gold colour has been popular in the past for companies like Apple and Xiaomi hopes to make it an attractive options for its fans as well.
The Redmi 5A Rose Gold variant will be priced similar to the other options currently available. Flipkart is also offering an extra 5 per cent off with Axis Bank Buzz Credit Card. Jio customers can also avail Rs 1000 cashback after a year if they make Rs 198 monthly recharges for 12 months on the Redmi 5A. The base model with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage will be available at Rs 4,999 while the 3GB + 32GB options will be found at Rs 6,999. Xiaomi initially launched the Redmi 5A in December starting at Rs 5,999, but is available for Rs 1,000 less for the initial 5 million customers. The company announced earlier this month that it sold 1 million Redmi 5A units within a month of its launch.
Xiaomi’s entry-level smartphone sports a 5-inch HD IPS display and is powered by a 1.4GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor coupled with Adreno 308 GPU. The dual-SIM phones runs Android Nougat-based MIUI 9 out-of-the-box and supports 4G LTE (VoLTE-ready) connectivity. Optics for the Redmi 5A includes a 13-megapixel camera on the rear with f/2.2 aperture, Phase Detection Autofocus and LED flash. Up front you get a 5-megapixel selfie camera. The handset houses a 3,000mAh battery that the company claims will offer up to 8 days of standby time.
